FOREWORD:

Thanks to a few dedicated students, The Poetry Club has met
and shared words and ideas for over 3 years now.
Having served as Faculty Sponsor of a Literary Club at The Art
Institute of Houston a while ago (and... having finished a journal
[the first] before student interest waned), I can say from a
mentors standpoint:

I appreciate this effort by all Club members... for their persistent
and consistent efforts to keep the Club alive.

the KEYHOLE wants to include all members of the Art Institute of
Houston community. If you have any creative material you think
worthy of publication, submit it! We can’t promise we’ll use it all,
but we sincerely want this new forum of imaginative work to reflect
the diversity of creativity at The Art Institute of Houston.


So I issue this challenge (in poetic form, of course):

CREATION IS REASON TO AWAKEN
The vessel or vehicle is irrelevant.
A mouse, a template, a can of paint
Clay, canvas, granite, brick, or mortar
Molds both model and pourer.

The way to create is to let thoughts flow
Down the mountain of Mind, to the medium below.
No matter how vapid these rapids might seem
Buried within is what the stream means.

What your mind invents is relentless present
A bow of now over a gift of sentience
Every new thought is a package on Xmas morn
Rip open the wrapping---Rejoice!---Reborn.
